Sockeye salmon (also known as "red salmon") has the darkest color and rich "salmon" flavor of the five species. 
 
Omega Mike's has partnered with a small processor in Bristol Bay Alaska that requires its fishermen to adhere to the highest quality practices for drift net caught sockeye salmon. This year sockeye salmon had the record of the highest return of sockeye salmon ever recorded with the expectation to grow next year. This fishery is so sustainable that the fish NEED to be caught commercially because the river systems  cannot support the amount of fish returning to the rivers each year.
