TO PROVIDE EASY ACCESS TO WILD CAUGHT SEAFOOD OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY, WHILE SUPPORTING FISHERMEN DEDICATED TO SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES AND THE HEALTH OF OUR WILD FISHERIES

IN PURSUIT OF FULFILLING OUR MISSION TO SUPPLY YOU WITH THE HEALTHIEST AND BEST TASTING WILD SEAFOOD IN THE WORLD, WE FIRST HAD TO CONFRONT THE ROOT PROBLEMS THAT EXIST IN OUR INDUSTRY.  UPWARDS OF 65% OF THE SEAFOOD CONSUMED IN THE UNITED STATES IS IMPORTED, AND NEARLY HALF OF THAT IS PRODUCED VIA AQUACULTURE.  OF THE REMAINING PERCENTAGE OF DOMESTICALLY CAUGHT FISH, A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THAT CATCH IS PROCESSED OVERSEAS, WHERE TOO OFTEN THERE IS AN ABSENCE OF STRICT HANDLING REGULATIONS.  EQUALLY ALARMING, IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 20-30% OF THE FISH SOLD IN THE US IS MISLABELED. 

 

WHEN IT COMES TO SALMON, 75% OF IT CONSUMED IN THE US IS FARM RAISED.  FARMED FISH ARE A GIANT THREAT TO OUR WILD POPULATIONS.  OCEAN PENS CONTAIN LARGE VOLUMES OF FISH CRAMMED TOGETHER MAKING DISEASES AND PARASITES EASILY CONTRACTABLE.  FARMERS IN TURN USE ANTIBIOTICS AND PESTICIDES TO COMBAT THIS.  THESE CHEMICALS, ALONG WITH FECES AND UNEATEN FOOD PELLETS, CREATE A BUILDUP OF TOXIC MUD ON THE OCEAN FLOOR.  FURTHERMORE, FISH WILL OCCASIONALLY ESCAPE THE FARMS, DILUTING THE GENE POOLS OF WILD SALMON STOCKS.  WE ARE DEDICATED TO COMBATTING THESE PITFALLS IN THE INDUSTRY AND BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN CONSUMERS AND SUSTAINABLY AND ETHICALLY HARVESTED, WILD SEAFOOD, STRAIGHT FROM THE RICH WATERS OF THE LAST FRONTIER.

 

THE STATE OF ALASKA MANAGES SOME OF THE HEALTHIEST AND MOST SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES IN THE WORLD.  WRITTEN INTO THE STATES CONSTITUTION, PROPER STEWARDSHIP OF FISH STOCKS TO SUSTAIN GENERATIONS TO COME IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE.  WE ARE PROUD TO PROVIDE WILD SEAFOOD FROM A FISHERY THAT IS A MODEL FOR THE WORLD WHEN IT COMES TO MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY.  THE NUTRIENT RICH SEAS OF THE NORTH PACIFIC UNDOUBTEDLY PRODUCE SOME OF THE BEST TASTING FISH ON EARTH. 

 

HOWEVER, WE LEARNED EARLY ON THAT IT WAS HOW A FISH WAS HANDLED OUT OF THE WATER THAT MATTERED MOST WHEN IT CAME TO QUALITY AND SHELF-LIFE.  CAREFUL AND TIMELY HANDLING OF FISH IS ESSENTIAL IN PRESERVING FLAVOR BETWEEN BOAT DECKS AND DINNER TABLES.  THAT IS WHY WE SOURCE HOOK AND LINE CAUGHT FISH FROM SMALL BOATS.  OUR FILETS ARE BLAST FROZEN AT -30 DEGREES TO LOCK IN FRESHNESS AND PROTEINS THAT BREAK DOWN IN CONVENTIONAL COMMERCIAL FREEZERS.

MIKE IS A LIFELONG FISHERMAN AND 4TH GENERATION CAPTAIN. HE CURRENTLY FISHES OUT OF SITKA, ALASKA CHARTERING AND COMMERCIAL PROCESSING

COLE HAS BEEN WORKING IN THE SEAFOOD INDUSTRY FOR ALMOST A DECADE AS A FISHERMAN, FISHMONGER, AND EXPERT FOR A SEAFOOD RESTAURANT.

DEEDEE WAS RAISED ABOVE THE ARCTIC CIRCLE IN ALASKA AND STARTED COMMERCIAL FISHING IN 2014. SHE CURRENTLY WORKS ON A CHARTER FISHING BOAT IN SITKA, ALASKA.
